The “Fish Applied Nutrition 3.0” program, developed by IFarming, gives you a special learning opportunity that mixes theoretical and practical knowledge using the Flipped Learning Method.

Learning Objectives
The main learning objectives of the “Fish Applied Nutrition 3.0” program include:
- Understanding the importance of essential nutrients in fish nutrition.
- Identifying and analyzing the role of macronutrients and micronutrients in fish health and growth.
- Diving into traditional such as histology, histochemistry, and immunohistochemistry for assessing intestinal nutrition and health.
- Exploring the processes of digestion, absorption, and metabolism of nutrients in fish.
- Evaluating the bioavailability, bioaccessibility, and bioenergetics of nutrients and ingredients in fish diets.

Methodology
The “Fish Applied Nutrition 3.0” program is using is the “Flipping Learning Method” which is a teaching technique where students learn materials (videos, readings, etc.) before class and during class engage in interactive and detailed tasks with teachers, encouraging more involvement and better understanding.
Before Classes (Asynchronous)
Students can watch and read educational content like videos and readings, get to know important ideas and words, and jot down notes and questions to talk about in class.
During Classes (Synchronous)
During class, students engage in various activities with professros such as content review, discussions, and answering questions to deepen their learning. Our live online classes are taught by prominent specialists and recorded for your convenience, allowing you to access them 24/7 through our learning platform, IFarming Virtual Campus.
After Classes (Asynchronous)
Students are exploring core content and concepts, working together and individually, and taking part in assessments to check their understanding.
Support Materials
This program will provide you with carefully selected and prepared support materials, created by our instructors to facilitate your learning.
Continuous Assessment
The teaching plan includes assessing your acquired knowledge in the program through quizzes and individual and group assignments.
Approval Requirements
A minimum of 80% attendance to classes and obtaining a final average equivalent to 60% of the maximum grade are required.
Certificate
Students who pass a course will receive a Certificate of Approval issued by the Catholic University of Temuco, which will be available on the student’s private site at https://campus-online.ifarming.ai/.

- Understand the context and structure of global aquaculture, along with the challenges related to fish nutrition in this sector.
- Identify various types of nutrients, raw materials, and additives used in fish nutrition, understanding their beneficial and detrimental roles in fish nutrition and health.
- Be equipped to identify and describe different laboratory methodologies used in analyzing the nutritional value of raw materials, enabling you to make informed decisions in ingredient selection and evaluation.
- Recognize and describe the components of the fish digestive system and understand their functions, providing you with a comprehensive view of how and where nutrient digestion and absorption occur in fish.
- Master the fundamental concepts of diet formulation, acquiring the necessary skills to use formulation tools and create specific balanced diet recipes tailored to the nutritional needs of different fish species.
- Learn the basic criteria for evaluating and understanding production parameters, integrating the theoretical and practical knowledge gained in the Fish Applied Nutrition 3.0 program. This will facilitate better decision-making and solution design.

Dr. Felipe Reveco Urzúa holds a Ph.D. in Animal Nutrition from the Norwegian University of Life Sciences in Norway. He also has a Master’s in Science in Poultry and Animal Science from the University of Saskatchewan in Canada, and he is a Doctor of Veterinary Medicine from the University of Chile.

Dr. Adrián Hernández is an Associate Professor of the Department of Agricultural and Aquaculture Sciences of the Faculty of Natural Resources at the Catholic University of Temuco (UC Temuco). He is also part of the Fish Nutrition and Physiology Laboratory and the Food Production Research Center of UC Temuco. Furthermore, he belongs to the academic staff of the doctoral and master´s program in Agricultural Sciences from UC Temuco. In addition, Dr. Hernández is a member of the editorial committee of the magazine “Aquaculture” and reviewer for numerous international magazines specialized in aquatic animal production and feeding.
His general research interest is focused on the study of fish nutrition and feeding, feed manufacturing and processing technologies. In the course of his research activities, he has dealt with different aspects of fish nutrition with the aim of characterizing the nutritional value of various protein ingredients and seeking ways to overcome their usage restrictions. Finally, Dr. Hernández has been carrying out projects and experiments in collaboration with national and international groups and institutions.

His research primarily revolves around lipid and fatty acid nutrition and how they interact with other nutrients.
